About LNCW

One of Lesotho's oldest women-led civil society organisations, providing vocational training, advocacy, and community support since 1964.

Our Story

The Lesotho National Council of Women (LNCW) was founded on 24 August 1964 and registered under the Society Act on 3 April 1975 (Registration No. 75/2).

LNCW is an umbrella body of local women and youth's groups, comprising more than 15 member organizations which work in areas of democracy and human rights, health, toddler day care centers, life skills, and more.

As one of the oldest women-focused civil society organisations in Lesotho, we serve as a coalition of women's groups and youth initiatives, combining advocacy, skills development, and community support to empower women and youth across the nation.

  • Grassroots organizing before and after independence

Under her leadership, LNCW has achieved remarkable milestones in economic empowerment, advocacy, and community development. Her legacy continues to inspire generations of Basotho women.
